World Health Day is a global event celebrated annually on April 7th, this day is dedicated to raising awareness and improving healthcare for people around the world. The first World Health Assembly was held in 1948 by the WHO. It is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Each year, World Health Day focuses on a different theme that highlights a significant health issue facing the world. For example, in 2020, the theme was “Support Nurses and Midwives,” which aimed to raise awareness of the critical role these healthcare workers play in delivering quality healthcare. In 2021, the theme was “Building a Fairer, Healthier World,” which aimed to address health inequalities and promote universal health coverage.
